Syria urges Arab opposition observers to go to Homs

Exiled opposition leaders have urged Syria Arab League to send new born observer mission to the Centre of the city of Homs, where activists say the Government army has intensified a crackdown against dissent.

In a video message broadcast Wednesday, Syria’s leader Burhan Ghalioun said Council observers should be placed into the environment of Homs was raided by security forces, such as Baba Amr. In a video message, the Paris-based SNC Ghalioun also called leaders to the UN Security Council to adopt initiatives to halt the Syria Government attacked the protesters. Russia and China have blocked efforts by Western powers to use the Council to condemn the Government of Syria and impose sanctions on it for continued crackdown.

The UN estimated that 5,000 people have been killed in violence linked to the rebellion since it started in March to protest against the Government of the autocratic rule Assad’s 11 years old. Syria says “armed terrorists” driving the revolt and accusing them of killing 2,000 security personnel during that period.
